The Challenge Ahead

The US healthcare market is the most dynamic in the world, yet it is complex, costly and difficult to navigate.

For physicians, as the industry has grown and business has evolved, the task of administering the business that underlies a clinic’s operation now exceeds both the skill set and the time available for most doctors. We all know the reason why: experts in providing quality medical care, physicians are so busy helping their patients and keeping up with the latest in medical practice that for the average doctor, focusing on improving his own business management skills or making strategic plans for the future of his practice is the last thing on his mind.

Unfortunately, patients today expect more from their physician than just good medical care, they also expect good customer service as well as access to the latest forms of healthcare. DAL International understands this, and has put together a way to assist physicians in addressing these two key components:

  1. How to meet increasing patient demands for higher levels of customer service, and

  2. How to integrate your practice with changes in the healthcare industry on the whole, so that patients can be offered access to newer forms of medical care.

One of the reasons patients expect access to newer forms of medical care is that the traditional healthcare industry has failed them. In particular, growth in the healthcare industry has created a level of complexity which makes it all but impossible for a patient to figure out where to go, who to see and how to get the sustaining healthcare they need. PPOs, HMOs, HSAs, PPCs, IPAs, MSOs, self referring, physician referring, lifetime maximums, in-network, out-of-network and a myriad of other healthcare restricting criteria all serve to make it impracticable for the average patient to plot a course through the system. Too frequent, patients fail to find or afford the healthcare they need, and too often physicians and clinics fail to connect with patients seeking their services.

When one adds into the equation the exorbitant cost of healthcare and fact that more and more patients are leaving the US to receive healthcare abroad, the question arises as to how US doctors and surgeons fit into this picture? With over a million people projected to travel from the US to other countries to receive medical care this year, how doctors respond to this new threat to their practice is critical.

As the head of a practice, should a doctor simply sit back and watch, as over the next 5 years the patient base slowly leaves in favor of less expensive medical care in other countries? Should doctors try to form their own international patient referral network in order to save their practices? Should they band together to fight the insurance companies that are already beginning to support international medical travel? How should US doctor's respond?

This is the market that DAL serves. DAL serves this market by bridging the gap between you, the physician, and those patients who are out there looking for you. We do this by 1) providing physicians and clinical facility operators with strategic services which orient a practice to more effectively serve the patient, 2) help you find a way to meld your practice into the international free flow of patients seeking medical help, and 3) help domestic and international patients find and connect with you.

By joining our global network, you too can gain access to these patients.

As for how our network works, at DAL we have formed a special division within our company to work with the doctors who form our global network. If you join our network, the face of DAL that you will see and work with will be called Medical Doctors International. You can find out more about how MDI works and the benefits it can bring to you and your practice by clicking on the logo below:

Patients on the other hand work with us through a division called Medical Travel International. MTI is the face that patients see when seeking referrals to your practice.
