The DAL Medical Advisory Board serves the purpose of providing oversight on the manner in which DAL conducts its medical outreach, education and referral business, by advising management on all aspects of the company's undertakings from processes and procedures to strategic and tactical issues. Of importance is that the Medical Advisory Board provides quality assessment for DAL's global medical network itself, including reporting to management on the performance of individual healthcare practitioners, hospitals, the level of patient satisfaction, medical outcomes and more.

DAL is in the process of filling its Medical Advisory Board positions.

An example of the quality individuals that constitute the DAL Medical Advisory Board is Dr. Stephen J. McColgan. On 14 August, 2007 Dr. McColgan joined the DAL Medical Advisory Board as Director of Weight Loss Practices and Quality Assessment.

Dr. McColgan, M.D., MBA was born in Boston and graduated from Boston University, Summa Cum Laude. He then attended medical school at Boston University School of Medicine in Massachusetts. He completed his general surgery training at the University of California, Irvine, where he serves as a clinical instructor of surgery. In addition he spent time training as a cardiovascular research fellow, receiving his Masters in Business Administration from the University of California, Irvine.

Dr. McColgan has been in private practice in the Long Beach, California, area for the past 20 years, specializing in General, Vascular and Advanced Laparoscopic surgery. Dr. McColgan has extensive training in a wide variety of advanced laparoscopic surgical procedures. He was one of the first surgeons in the Los Angeles area to perform Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy in 1990. He has gone on to apply his advanced laparoscopic surgical skills to perform the most state-of-the-art method of bariatric surgery, Laparoscopic Gastric Bypass, and is considered a leader in his field.

Dr. McColgan has held the position of Chairman of the Department of Surgery for Bellflower Medical Center for the past 10 years. He has also served on the Board of Directors and has held many other positions in medical staff leadership over his 20 years in practice.

Dr. McColgan has not only focused on performing advanced laparoscopic surgery but has worked with major corporations such as US Surgical Corporation and Ethicon Endo Corporation as a consultant, to train and qualify surgeons for competency in Laparoscopic Gastric bypass. He also became involved with the International Division of Ethicon Endo Surgical and was instrumental in the start up and development of a turnkey program for an Advanced Laparoscopic Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence at Piyavate Hospital in Bangkok, Thailand. This center functioned as a teaching center and corporate showcase for the Asia Pacific.
